Spring Cleaning Made Easy

The beauty of spring cleaning is being able to open up the windows after a cold damp winter, airing out the house and going through each room for a deep declutter and clean. But it can be a bit overwhelming, and there are often tasks you forget about and never get back to. We’ve compiled our best tips to keep things simple for you below.

1. Clean Fridge & Freezer

Go through your fridge and freezer and remove any out of date items. Remove contents of the fridge and wipe down shelves. Defrost freezer if necessary, otherwise wipe over where required.

2. Cleaning The Oven

Ovens build up with varying amounts of grease. If you use your oven frequently, you might need to clean it a few times a year. If you are a sporadic oven user, you might forget it even needs cleaning so remembering to check up on it in Spring is a great way to ensure you keep on top of it! We have a detailed how to on the blog, click here to see.

3. Windows & Tracks

After the rain of winter your windows likely need some attention. Cleaning windows can be a big job that you might need some help completing. Call 131 546 to reach out to Jim’s Window Cleaning services. If you’re taking on the job yourself, we recommend tackling all indoor windows in one go, then move to the exteriors. Remember to clean the build up of dust from your tracks.

4. Vacuum Bathroom Exhaust Fans

This is often a forgotten part of a home! Bathroom exhaust fans, hall registers and the insides of dome light shades all need regular dusting/cleaning. The easiest way is often to use the vacuum cleaner and follow with a wipe with a clean damp cloth.

5. Carpet Spots

Carpets can accumulate drop marks quite quickly. Take a look through your home to see how your carpet has faired after so much time indoors through winter. For best results we suggest professional cleaning. Call 131 546 to reach out to the Jim’s Carpet Cleaning team. If your carpets don’t have any obvious stains, we recommend a thorough vacuum using a powerhead to pull all dust and dirt up from the carpets.

6. Inside Bins

The bottom of our bins often end up with grime and dirt. Take them outside with a hose and some dishwashing detergent to get any sticky marks off!

7. Wipe Down Skirting Boards

Skirting boards are often forgotten and build up with a lot of dust. Go through your home with a soft damp cloth to clean. For tough scuff marks try using a magic sponge.

8. Clean Ceiling Fans

If you have ceiling fans, you probably notice that they easily get a dust build up. The quickest way to clean them is to place an open pillow case over the blade and pull back. The dust will fall into the pillowcase, and not all over your furniture/flooring.
